SQL Server 2005: Advanced Indexing Strategies
Friday 6th October 2006
8:00am - 11:00am
In this session we look at a fast-paced collection of indexing tips and tricks based on an already optimised base table structure. How you create your base table - as well as cluster it - has a big impact on that table's performance.
Once the base table structures have been defined and you have to further improve system performance, where do you look and how do you do this?
We will also talk about targeting both the known and finding the unknown performance problems. Once you know where the problems are we'll go through numerous options to improve the performance using indexes.

G'Day Developers!
Do you maintain verbal contact with your client? With the convenience and cost-effectiveness of email, it is tempting to resort to emails for client contact. We sometimes forget that our clients are people just like us who need human interaction to ensure everything is OK. This is why it is essential that you maintain verbal contact before, during and after a project. What does this mean?
If you maintain an open channel of verbal communication with your client, it helps to break down communication barriers, lets the client know that you are friendly and involved, and makes them feel comfortable with you and SSW. More on Rules to Successful Projects...
Cheers until next time,
Adam
SSW Chief Architect and Microsoft Regional Director, Australia

Atlas
This new web development technology from Microsoft integrates cross-browser client script libraries with the ASP.NET 2.0 server-based development framework.
In addition, "Atlas" offers you the same type of development platform for client-based web pages that ASP.NET offers for server-based pages. And because "Atlas" is an extension of ASP.NET, it is fully integrated with server-based services.
"Atlas" makes it possible to easily take advantage of AJAX
techniques on the web and enables you to create ASP.NET pages with a
rich, responsive UI and server communication.
Tim Kremer
will be presenting a introduction to Microsoft Atlas, including an
overview of the framework, worked examples of the new client
libraries as well as using the server side libraries to add ajax
functionality to your ASP.NET existing applications.
